Most of the anti-pediculosis drugs kill adult lice, but they barely affect the eggs. To deal with them more difficult. It is necessary not only to kill the embryos, but also to destroy the adhesive substance with which they are attached to the hair, and only after that the dry nits are removed from the head.

The differences of the dead and the living

Nits look like transparent capsules with a whitish tint.

Their size is 1-1.5 mm. This capsule protects the embryo of lice from external influences. It is attached to the hair with a sticky substance that is very difficult to remove mechanically.

In the treatment of pediculosis with insecticides, the effect of the drug on the eggs rarely spreads.

Therapeutic protiviconuclear shampoos, sprays, etc. do not harm the eggs, because do not destroy their shell and adhesive. Therefore, the tactics of dealing with embryo lice should be different. Acid and alcohol-containing agents, special oils, etc. are used. And only after the use of such drugs can progress be observed in the treatment of pediculosis.

With the use of tools that destroy eggs lice, the number of dead nits increases. For the effectiveness of therapy, it is necessary to distinguish them from the still living embryos.

You can determine by the following features:

  • dead individuals are surrounded by a less elastic and convex hull,
  • in dead embryos the shell is dull, whiteness is present,
  • Dead nit crunches and clicks.

If there is an opportunity to look at the lice eggs under a microscope, then you can see the destroyed shell and dead larva.

How to get rid of parasites

Having figured out what dead nits look like, you need to understand how to get rid of them correctly. A proven method is combing. But the use of the comb has some nuance. Working with him is time consuming and requires daily manipulations.

If there are dead parasites, then there are living ones. Therefore, a person will be completely cured when there are neither those nor others on his head. This can be done in different ways.

Hair treatment

The most effective and common way of getting rid of lice and their eggs is treatment with anti-pediculosis drugs.

Most of the drugs sold in the pharmacy are insecticides, they are relatively safe for humans.

Due to its composition, the drug contributes to the destruction of parasites, destroys the shell of eggs. Some of the same means less aggressive, because contain acids that break down the adhesive.

The greatest popularity in the fight against pediculosis received drugs:

It is necessary to use means according to the instruction for application, previously having familiarized with side effects and contraindications. If, when applied to the scalp of the medication, itching or redness appears, you need to immediately wash off the medicine and go to the doctor.

Pediculitis kills lice

Combing parasites

Remove the nits from the scalp using a pediculum comb. You can buy it at the pharmacy. Such devices as ordinary combs look like, but they are made of medical steel and have teeth closely spaced to each other.

This device is universal in use. It is used to remove both live and dead nits. Apply it for both long and short hair. The use of combs has no contraindications and age restrictions.

How to remove parasites:

  1. Wash your head with an anti-pedicular shampoo.
  2. Dry with a towel.
  3. Split hair into strands (if they are long).
  4. Carefully comb along the strands, from the roots to the ends of the hair.
  5. The collected lice are removed on a white cloth or thick paper.
  6. For more efficient sliding devices on the hair of the head, the comb is treated with air conditioning after each pass.

After the procedure, dead nits and lice are disposed of. Head wash again. Combs parasites daily, 7-10 days.

For a more effective treatment for pediculosis, it is better to combine treatment and combing hair. The first procedure will remove the sticky substance of living eggs and destroy their shell, and the second - will help remove dead animals from the hair.

Use hair straightener

Owners of long hair, you can also use the usual ironing. It will help get rid of dead lice embryos and still living parasites. The effectiveness of the device is determined by ensuring a high temperature, due to which the adhesive substance dissolves and the hard shell of the eggs breaks.

To make ironing the most effective, it is important to adhere to some rules for removing lice and nits:

  1. Wash your hair thoroughly, preferably using an anti-pedicular shampoo.
  2. Long hair to comb, divided into strands, fixing their rubber bands.
  3. Treat your hair with a thermal protection cosmetic.
  4. Carefully use the iron, passing him from the roots of the hair of the head to their tips.
  5. Pass the device through the hair slowly.

After the procedure, you need to comb out the remaining parasites with a regular comb with rare teeth. Do it better over the bathroom.

Folk remedies

Live and dead nits and their larvae are harvested using folk methods. Using the treatment of hair of the head with special means and procedure of combing.

List of products that help dissolve the adhesive:

  1. Chemerichnaya water. Drugstore use according to the instructions.
  2. Hydrogen peroxide. Dilute with water 1: 3. Apply on the hair and incubated under a plastic bag for 30 minutes.
  3. Lemon juice. Before applying diluted with water 1: 3. Withstand the remedy on the head for 30-40 minutes.
  4. Cranberry juice. Eliminates the adhesive substance of living eggs of lice, does not harm the hair structure. Hold the medicine on the head for 40 minutes.
  5. Vinegar. Dilute with water 1: 2. Stand on the head for 15 minutes.

Each of these products is less aggressive to the hair and scalp than anti-pediculosis drugs. But before using them, you still need to consult a doctor to avoid allergic reactions.

Germ Capsules - what is it?

In nature, there are several types of lice, but the most common louse - the head. Getting on the head of a man, she quickly begins to lay her eggs - nits, attaching them to the hairs with the help of her glue. Read on our website for more information on the incubation period for nits and lice breeding.

Often, even after careful processing, when there are no living insects in the hair anymore, there are dried-up capsules, empty bags that firmly hold on to the hair. This is the dead nits. If they are found, then there were lice that had already hatched.

Sometimes, these are full eggs with dead embryos that have died, never hatched. The fact is that they need a certain temperature and environment for development, and if they died, it means that they ended up in uncomfortable conditions for themselves.

The future larva can die from the treatment with special means, but most of the preparations are fatal only for hatched individuals.

Nit is the egg of the parasite. His fetus lives in a mucous capsule that envelops the hair and is held firmly on it. Dry nits - egg without a larva, remains in place, after the release of a young louse for a long time.

Look like the dead nits, look at the photo below:

Signs of difference between dead and live nits

How to understand that the nits are dead? In appearance, despite the tenacity, dead nit is different from live on several grounds:

  • dead has a dull gray or whitish color,
  • when crushing dead nits there is no characteristic click.

To check whether it is alive or not, it is removed from the hair manually or using a comb placed on the nail of one finger and pressed down strongly with another.

How to remove dead nits from hair?

By getting rid of living parasites and destroying the embryos, you should not expect that the dead nits fall off by themselves. It can take a lot of time, and there is no guarantee that all of them are inanimate. Perhaps among them remained viable and, if overlooked, we can expect the emergence of a new generation of intolerable parasites. It is better to do their removal even with their hands.

How to get rid of dead nits? Dead nits can be removed using a special comb. Desirable wide. They are produced a lot from ordinary to electric. You can buy any of them at almost any pharmacy. Regular comb due to its structure does not help much.

It is necessary to perform all the steps correctly, only then the head will become clean and free from lice and their eggs..

  1. Divide hair into even strands.
  2. Comb each strand separately.
  3. To shift the processed strand on the side, fixing with a barrette or a clip so that it does not touch the untreated area.

  • Scratching over the sink or spread fabric.
  • Carefully comb out daily for 10 days.
  • Every day during this period, wash your hair with special means.
  • Treat combs, pins, brushes, if they were used - wash with soap and running water.
  • Immediately wash cloth, cloths and gloves in hot water (50 degrees) or burn them.
  • To make it easier to tear the nits from their homes, with the help of special anti-pediculosis drugs soften its shell. These can be special pediculicidal shampoos, or sprays of lice and nits: Para-Plus aerosol, Pedilin, Medilis Malathion emulsion, Pediculen-ultra, Paranit, Nuda, or pediculosis ointment - Benzyl benzoate and Sulfuric.

Before applying chemical antiparasitic agents, read the instructions.

ATTENTION! Kerosene, vinegar can burn the scalp. Chemerichna water can cause an allergic reaction. Peroxide changes natural hair color.

The duration of the course combing

How to get rid of the dead nits in the hair at home? Remove the nits from the hair at once all the first time may not work. It is better if they are combed out over a period of 12 days in order to prevent the lice from re-developing. Especially carefully you should check thick hair and comb them 2 times.

In order not to get infected yourself, it is better to err. Gloves and a gauze bandage, white cloth spread under the head, will help to avoid this. In the future, try more often to conduct inspections and examinations of hair and body for the presence of lice.

At the slightest suspicion, it is better to carry out the treatment and removal so that again you do not have to perform an unpleasant operation to remove the dead, but very tenacious nits from the hair.

How to determine the presence of nits and lice?

Pediculosis is the disease that is caused by these insects. Like many other diseases, it can be identified by several signs. Among them can be identified severe itching of the head. This symptom appears most clearly. The fact is that the louse bite does not pass without a trace, because the parasite injects poison into the skin. In places of bites, sores and scabs appear that itch a lot. Another sure symptom is an increase in the lymph nodes, both occipital and BTE. The person becomes irritable, he begins peeling of the skin, on it appear gray-blue spots. Of course, the most important symptom can be called the presence of nits and lice.

    Causes of pediculosis

Health professionals call transmission from an infected person to a healthy one a major cause. This happens through clothing or in person. By the way, it is widely believed that the presence of nits and lice is possible only for people who do not follow the rules of personal hygiene. As doctors say, this is a big mistake. The fact is that the most favorable environment for nits is clean scalp. By the way, as a result of numerous studies, scientists managed to find out that people who are often under severe stress are most susceptible to infection with these parasites.

    What are dangerous nits?

In general, the lifestyle and nature of nits and lice do not pose a serious danger to human health. Pediculosis, identified by specialists or at home in a timely manner, very quickly treatable. But despite this, we should not neglect the treatment, because these parasites can carry a number of different diseases, for example, typhoid. By the way, experts note that nits are a greater danger to humans than lice. The fact is that they can survive the processing of various chemicals due to the fact that they have a "protective" shell. Therefore, when identifying nits or lice should immediately consult a doctor, but if this is not possible, you can try to try to remove nits from the hair. How to do it? Let's tell right now.

    Necessary tools and tools

What should be prepared in order to begin the procedure for removing nits and lice? First of all, you should buy an anti-pediculosal shampoo. You will also need vinegar or listerine, a large amount of hot water, hair conditioner, a towel, a special comb designed to remove nits and lice. Depending on the parasite removal method you choose, you may need petroleum jelly or olive oil.

Step One: Getting rid of lice

The first step is to get rid of adult parasites. The fact is that the removal of nits alone can not save the patient from the pediculosis. Lice, remaining on the hair, continue to lay eggs, which later also turn into adult individuals. This cycle will be almost endless if you don’t stop it and kill the adult louse first. Surveys show that, thinking about how to remove nits from hair, people often believe that parasites can destroy immersion of hair for a long time under water. Medical studies say: lice incredibly tightly cling to the hair and scalp, because they can be under water for several hours! Even chlorinated pool water is not effective in combating these parasites. So how to remove nits from the hair quickly and for a long time? One of the most reliable ways is to use a special shampoo that can be bought in a pharmacy without a prescription. It can be such means as "Nuda", "Avalanche", "Nittifor", "Paraplus", "Paranit" and so on. If they do not help, you can use prescription shampoos that eliminate pediculosis.

    Pyrethrins for lice

The fastest way to remove lice is to use a pyrethrin-based shampoo. This is the name of the natural extract of chrysanthemum flowers. This substance is very quickly absorbed into the body of lice and affects their nervous system, thus disrupting the transmission of nerve impulses. True, this group of natural insecticides is not always effective. The shampoo should be applied exclusively on dry hair, then you should wait 10-15 minutes, unless otherwise indicated in the instructions. Then you should lather it thoroughly by adding a large amount of water. The next stage - rinsing hair. After it, you must start removing nits. The whole process should be repeated after 1-1.5 weeks. This will destroy those lice that could hatch after treatment of the head.

    Vaseline and Olive Oil

Another way to help beat head lice is to try to stifle lice. Of course, clinical studies about the effectiveness of this method are not enough, but many argue that lice can die from asphyxiation. A number of products clog up all of the respiratory openings of lice, for several hours after that the parasites still live, but then they certainly die. For this purpose you can use petroleum jelly. It should be applied to the hair and scalp evenly thick layer. After this tool should be left on the hair for 8-12 hours. In order to restrict the flow of air to the head and do not stain anything around, put a hat on the head for the shower or for the pool.

This method is not perfect. First, petroleum jelly will be extremely difficult to wash off the hair. Besides, it will not destroy the eggs of lice. Some people prefer to use olive oil. As in the case of petrolatum, it must be applied to the hair and skin, then cover with a cap. Perhaps the advantage of this method can be called the fact that olive oil is washed off from the hair much easier than petroleum jelly. In addition, it can significantly weaken the attachment of nits to the hair.

Speaking about how to remove the nits from the hair quickly, you should talk about such a method as using a mask from mayonnaise. The fact is that the composition of mayonnaise includes oil, which has a choking effect. It should be applied to the hair and skin, while the higher the percentage of fat content, the greater the efficiency.

    Step Two: Remove Nits

How to easily remove nits from the hair? Make it easy. First you need to find a place with a sufficient level of illumination. In this case, it does not matter whether it is artificial or natural. Light is needed so that you can see the nits that are glued to your hair. You will need to put a towel on your shoulders so that nits or louses do not fall to the floor.

    Use vinegar

Speaking about how to remove the nits from the hair, experts say that the most common tool is the most common table vinegar. Lice eggs are covered with a sticky substance that allows them to stick tightly enough on the hair. Table vinegar is able to dissolve the substance, making the separation of nits from the hair will be quite a simple process. For those who are thinking about how to remove nits from hair with vinegar, we have prepared step-by-step instructions:

    1. First you need to combine water with vinegar in a one-to-one ratio. Water should be warm. Kneel above the bath and open the tap. Wet all strands thoroughly with warm water.
    2. Continuing to kneel, pour vinegar and water over the head. Experts say that you can take and undiluted weakly concentrated product. Each strand should be covered with vinegar.
    3. After five minutes, rinse the hair with warm water.

Another great option is to mix water and vinegar and immerse the hair in this solution. After you wash the vinegar from the curls, apply an indelible conditioner on them. Spread it over the entire length of the hair with a comb. Please note: each hair must be covered with a tool! The only way you can safely and easily comb the nits.

    Combing nits

How to remove nits from hair? In reviews, people confronted with this problem say that they can’t do without a metal comb with thin hard teeth. A plain plastic or wooden comb will not work for you. Special comb must be purchased at the pharmacy. By the way, a magnifying glass is not superfluous: it will allow you to see the nits in particularly thick hair. Of course, there is a high probability that you were able to remove most of the nits when using vinegar, but the probability that some of the eggs remained is quite large. Take a narrow strand in your hand, carefully comb the hair strand by strand. How long do I need to remove the nits from the hair? Until they remain! After you have read one strand, be sure to rinse the comb in a soapy solution. After this pretty wipe it on a paper towel or napkin, thus removing the nits and lice that could catch on the cloves. By the way, each processed strand should be fixed on the side, minimizing the likelihood of re-infection.

    Hair washing

After you finish working with a comb, you should wash your hair again. You can also use an anti-pedicular shampoo for this. He will completely get rid of lice. After washing, you should dry your hair and carefully inspect them for nits or lice. In the event that you notice parasites, the whole process will need to be repeated again.

    Tool processing

The next important step is the thorough processing of all the tools that you used in the nits removal process. The bowl and comb must be filled with boiling water and left for 10 minutes, covered with a lid. All hairpins and other accessories that you used during this process can be put into it. However, you must first remove all parasites from these tools. After that, the bowl should be put on the stove and heated to about 60 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, nits and lice will certainly die.

Another great treatment option is to mix two glasses of boiling water with one glass of ammonia. In this composition it is necessary to soak all used accessories.

    Listerine application

How to quickly remove nits from long hair? Of course, with the help of Listerine! This substance contains a fairly high percentage of alcohol, thanks to which the probability of killing nits and lice is quite large. Attention should be paid to the fact that if there are open wounds on the scalp, a person may feel a burning sensation during application. If you decide to remove the parasites with Listerine, you must put it on your hair and put a shower cap on top. Keep the tool on the head should be at least 30 minutes. If necessary, you can rinse your hair and apply the product again. By the way, talking about how to remove nits from long hair, many recommend applying Listerine at bedtime. From above, you should also wear a shower cap, and put a towel on the pillow in order not to stain the bedding. The next morning you can continue the process of cleaning hair from parasites.

    How to flush listerine?

The next stage is washing the hair with warm water mixed with vinegar. As we said earlier, this composition allows you to weaken the connection of nits with hair. After that you will only remove the dead nits from long hair. How to do it? As in the previous case, it will be necessary to apply an indelible conditioner on the hair, comb and comb the nits from each strand of hair. After that, thoroughly rinse the accessories you used and the place where you removed the nits. It is important to wash towels and linens in hot water. Heat treatment will destroy the parasites.

    A warning

In that case, if you think about how to remove nits from long hair, and decide to use aggressive chemicals, be extremely careful. The fact is that fumigants and many other chemicals are completely ineffective in combating this type of parasite. It should be noted that the side effects of inhalation or contact with the mucous membranes or skin of these drugs are significantly higher than the disinfection effect that they have.

If you still want to use aggressive chemistry, pay attention to the fact that the activity of most of the drugs has decreased significantly, because insects simply have developed a strong immunity to them. Speaking about how to remove the nits from the hair (dead or alive), it should be noted that if you used all the above means more than once, but did not get the desired result, you should consult a doctor. It is he who prescribes prescription drugs that can defeat pediculosis. Of course, all the ways that we described above do not make any sense if you are in contact with the hair of people who are infected.

    Prevent re-infection

In order that you do not have to think about how to remove dry nits from the hair, you should take care of preventive measures. First, avoid contact with other people's hair. Secondly, do not use personal items and bedding of an infected person. In the absence of feed, the louse will die in just one or two days. Soak all items, such as towels and combs of a person who is infected with head lice, in hot water, the temperature should be more than 54 degrees. In hot water it is necessary to wash bed linen, pillows, soft toys. Not superfluous will be heat drying, which will destroy the remaining insects. In the event that you do not have the opportunity to dry or wash clothes yourself, just take them to dry-cleaning. Be sure to vacuum the floor and other surfaces. Of course, once on any surface, the lice remain viable for a very short time, but it is best to process the furniture and the floor in order to prevent re-infection.

    What the nits look like

Head lice - these are insects that parasite on human scalp, feeding on him blood laying eggs (nits) on the hairline. Nit - this is some cocoonin which the parasite matures, having an egg and round shell.

Himself shelving process nits lice looks like this: the female gets rid of the eggwhich passes through the oviduct together with mucus (secret) that envelops the hair and helps nits firmly to fix On him. Appearance nits like white volume pouchattached to the hair.

Nits quite often confused with dandruff. It is worth remembering that:

    • eggs is always one size (up to 1 mm in length), particles of dandruff exfoliate uneven and may be of different shapes and diameters
    • cocoons have white and gray colordandruff is always white color,
    • nits firmly fixed on a hair, so, to take off their, need to make an effort, dandruff can shake offwithout effort.

    Are nits passed

Despite the fact that nitsfor all my developments are still and can not travel from an infected person to a healthy one, the risk of catching head lice exists too. Each man loses every day50 to 125 hairs per day. This statistic is the norm.

If a dropped out haircontains nits (in some cases on one hairmay coexist several eggs - this suggests that parasites are already well established and it becomes crowded) and hits the body of another human by means of using someone else's comb, hairpins or towels, the probability pediculosis lesions sharp is increasing. But this happens very rarely.

Can there be nits without lice

there is other explanations the presence of nits on the head of hair. Eggs testify aboutTom, what parasiteswere guests on the scalp. But it happens that there are nits, but there are no lice. Explanations such:

    1. Head lice highly active, they are very move fast over the scalp so their can simply miss upon inspection,
    2. If a by chance eliminate adult (when combing or in other cases), on the head will remain only nits,
    3. With often close contact with carrier lice, the parasite goes to a healthy person lays nits, and then returns "to the family" back to the head of the carrier of the disease,
    4. Louse is not able to exist without the host's body. She is has tenacious paws and can catch on for any fabric with which the head was in contact (bedding, hat, etc.). Put off nits louse, dies in unusual conditions,
    5. When dry nits are found - it means that treatment against parasites did not occur purposefully. Any toxic substancestake life of these parasites: planned hair dyeing or reception certain drug preparations (lice feed on the host’s blood and receive a dose of a poisonous substance) can serve as a means of struggle with parasites.

The difference between dead and live nits

To distinguish the state of nits can be several in ways:

    • Alive nits have translucent whitish shell, inside which you can see larva grayish color.Dead cocoon is different dull white-yellow or gray shade.
    • Live nit is different convex shape, dead - more flat.
    • If you take off from the hair live egg, put on your finger and try crush his fingernail can hear characteristic click. Dead no cocoon no sound.

How to get rid of dead nits

Cocoons nits fasten highly reliably on hair and even dead nitswill not separate from the hair without external action. Wrestling with nits has several nuanceswhich do not guarantee the killing of the embryo inside the cocoon. It is dense enough the germ does not feed during ripening, so toxic substances may be powerless before nits. Removing nitsnecessarily not only for this reason, if you leave safe empty cocoons on your hair, hair will have untidy look.

Most plaineffective and cardinal method of struggle with nits - full shaving hair. After the procedure, without fail need to burn hair. If this method is not suitable, you need to apply diligence and patience.

Right get rid of nits The following actions will help:

    1. To work with affected hair, use special combwith rare teethwhich are located close to each other and have the ability to grab the hair,
    2. Neatly split hair into small areas carry out work on enough lighted place
    3. Followso that treated strands do not come into contact with the affected hair
    4. Daily carry out the procedure combing over 12 days,
    5. With long thick hair combing is recommended 2 times a day,
    6. Head wash in this period use special means,
    7. After each procedures carefully handle toolsthat were used.
    8. For, to get rid of cocoons while combing it was easier use special means which weaken the shell of the nits and make it more "pliable".

    What is a nit

Nit looks similar to the capsule, which has a whitish tint, no larger than 1.5 mm. Her body is equipped with a shell that performs a protective function. Below is an outgrowth of oblong shape that looks like leaked glue. This formation allows the larva to keep tightly on the tresses of a person.

The upper part of the capsule has a valve, which is the outlet of the larva from the shell. The individual ready for the birth cannot independently get out of it. For this, she begins to actively perform respiratory actions. As a result, the volume of air increases, the nits go outside. This usually happens in 2-3 minutes.

The usual anti-pediculosis drugs do not affect the nits. They they die in the case when their shell is destroyed and the adhesive substance is dissolved. For this, homemade water, vinegar, cranberry juice, hair dye containing ammonia, hydrogen peroxide are used at home.

How to distinguish the dead from the living

Not all people know what dead nits look like. These differences will help to detect the following signs:

    • a dead individual acquires a less convex capsule shape,
    • dead nits have no sparkle. They show fading and dullness,
    • dead nits don't click,
    • if we examine the parasites under a microscope, then the living larva is clearly visible in the living individual.

Important! If a person has heard the characteristic click, then it is necessary to re-process anti-pediculosis drugs. Since the dead can not click individuals. In this case, there is a high risk of re-infection. If you carry out combing of living individuals, then you will not get an effective result.

    Disposal methods

Getting rid of nits from hair is a more laborious process than from adult parasites. It is not difficult to get rid of lice after treatment with anti-pediculosis drugs. These drugs have almost no effect on their larvae.

In addition, it is difficult to remove dead nits from curls, even by mechanical action. They cling tightly to the tresses of a person. Even if it turns out to achieve their death as a result of exposure to chemicals, then dry shells remain on the human head, which give the hairstyle a very untidy and unkempt appearance.

    Processing and frequency

All protivopikuleznye funds aimed at the destruction of adults. Of course, this means that lice will not lay eggs. However, in order for the living and dead nits to be eliminated for sure, a combing procedure with a special comb is necessary.

To achieve the desired result, its should be carried out several times a day.

Removing dead nits from long, curly hair is problematic. To obtain the effect, it is necessary after each procedure to process the scallop as follows:

    1. Rinse thoroughly in hot soapy water.
    2. Treat with alcohol, vodka, hydrogen peroxide.
    3. Dry well in a hot, hot place.

Pediculosis belongs to the category of rapid diseases, which need to be treated without losing time. If you carry out combing several times a day, then you can completely comb the eggs of lice from long hair in a week.

However, sometimes this event will take at least 10 days. If there is a need, then it is necessary to re-process the chemical means. After that, during the week to carry out regular combing.

    Medications

Since louse eggs are located near the roots, for better separation, it is recommended to treat this zone with acidic solutions or chemical anti-pediculosis preparations. These manipulations contribute to the dissolution of the sticky substance that helps nits to stick to the hair.

Among the medical preparations, special means are used to achieve this goal, among which a worthy place is given to:

How to remove the lice and nits on the hair.

How to get rid of nits: treatment of the head, combing, products, shampoos.

What are nits and how to distinguish the dead from the living?

Nits are cocoons lice lay down. They attach them to the hair with adhesive backing. That is why the usual washing of hair is not enough to wash off all the nits.

And even the treatment of the scalp with some kind of insecticide, such as a shampoo or a soap shampoo, will not get rid of dead nits - they will still remain on the hair until the sticky substance clears. And it will take, according to experts, about 30-45 days.

Is it possible to somehow distinguish between dead and live nit? How to understand this? It is believed that the living - burst with a specific click when crushed, but the dead - no. However, this is to some extent a fallacy.

Scientists say that a living cocoon from a dead one can only be distinguished under a microscope. The matured nit, which literally in 1-2 days will turn into a pupa, also becomes soft and not crushed.

And so these parasites look on the photo.

How to remove dead larvae of lice from the hair?

And what method at home you can get rid of nits on the hair? The easiest and most radical way to remove them - this haircut "zero". But not everyone will agree to this procedure. There are more simple, but all the same reliable methods. In particular - combing comb.

Or maybe you don't need to do this at all? Sooner or later the nits will still disappear by themselves? Yes, just wait more than a month.

And if among them there will be at least one living, not dead, then the pediculosis will soon return and it will be necessary to again engage in the extermination of lice.

In principle, using a special comb (sold in pharmacies) to comb out all the nits possible, but it will take a very large amount of time. And the risk of missing some of them will be very high.

Is it possible to somehow dissolve the same glue that attaches nits to the hair? This effect gives the most common vinegar. It is enough to apply its aqueous solution on all the ringlets, wrap with polyethylene or a towel for 20-30 minutes, and then rinse with warm running water.

To obtain a solution, you should take 1 part of vinegar (ordinary table, 9%) and 3 parts of warm boiled water.

Well, after hair treatment can be taken for combing the remnants of nits. As a rule, with proper processing, most of them will wash off, and it is easy to get rid of the rest with a comb.

The main thing is to do everything carefully, examining visually literally every curl. Particularly attentive should be on the hair growing on the back of the head, at the temples, at the base of the forehead - this is where lice most often lay cocoons.

If necessary, the procedure should be repeated.

    How to comb?

    1. It is better if the hair will be slightly wet.
    2. It should start with the temples, picking up each curl and 10-20 times spending on it with a comb.
    3. Gradually, you need to go to the back of the head, and from there to the parting line.
    4. It is important - nits should be combed immediately along the entire length of the hair.
    5. All procedures should be performed in disposable gloves, and the clothes in which both the patient and the one who combed the nits were boiled (or washed at a temperature of at least 80 degrees).
    6. Comb nits best over the bathroom. Or lay the floor in the room with cling film, which should then be packed in a sealed bag and discarded.

How many combing courses will be required? If you do everything right, then one will be enough. However, in the next at least 7-9 days, the patient's hair should be visually inspected daily for new nits or lice.

And yes, getting rid of dead nits is the most difficult thing in the treatment of lice. We should not only forget that the pest control should later be carried out on the clothes worn by the person infected.

This also applies to his bed linen, hairbrushes, hairpins, rubber bands and even soft toys located near his bed.

It can be replaced with pharmaceuticals such as Para-Plus, Medifox, Knicks, but these are insecticides. In most cases, 1-2 such procedures will be more than enough. However, in the following days, the hair of a person previously infected for the presence of new cocoons should be examined daily.

    How do lice appear?

The adult head louse has a tiny size and great potential for reproduction. If you see “grain” resembling semolina on the hair, this means that the adult individual has laid eggs. This is nits. The female produces a special secret that instantly “seizes”, better than any glue. On this glue and nits are glued.

Inside the egg is an embryo, which, after a very short time, will grow and come out. The egg itself has a very interesting device - it is cylindrical in shape, and there is a cap on top.

The embryo will develop within two weeks in complete safety - the shell of its “capsule” is so strong that it can protect it from even many chemical agents. After 14 days the lid will open and the larva will come out - a “young” but very voracious louse.

    Embryo features

Sometimes there is a dead embryo in the egg, in some cases it is not developed at all. But whatever "filling" would not have nits, they must be removed from the hair. First you need to understand how to distinguish between live and non-living nits.

If you take the parasite's egg and crush between the nails, you will hear a characteristic click. This is a live larva. Accordingly, if you do the same manipulation with the dead, no click will be heard.

In addition, the dead differ in color - most often they are gray. Any eggs lice should be removed as soon as possible. Since the louse feeds on blood, “biting” into the scalp, it lays the bulk of eggs at a distance of 1-2 cm from the surface of the skin.

This is only later, when moving and other physical factors, the eggs spread along the entire length of the hair. It must be understood that the dead should be removed as immediately as the living.

You could make a mistake when identifying or, relying on medical lotion, you decided that everyone was dead and would fall off on their own. Far from it. Their shells will remain on the hair, if you do not take any measures.

    Ways to get rid

The most effective way to remove dead nits from the hair is brushing. And this is not a simple use of a hair brush. In order to make it easier to remove the nits, a special comb is used. It can be purchased at the pharmacy.

A feature of this comb are longer and thinner teeth. We can say that it is extremely frequent - the gaps between the teeth are extremely small. They practically do not exceed the size of nits. Only combing with a special comb helps physically collect louse eggs.

Special care is required if you need to quickly comb the nits with long hair. We already know that eggs are mainly in the root zone, so it is worth treating it with some acidic agent, for example, vinegar.

Acid will help to dissolve the "glue", which glued the larvae. When dividing the hair into thin strands, carefully look first through the scalp, hair roots, and then the hair itself at a distance of 3-4 cm from the roots. Discovered must be destroyed by smashing with nails. Get rid of dry (dead) nits can only comb. Comb each strand of hair, repeating the movement towards the ends several times.

    Duration of treatment

Whatever means you use - sprays, lotions, acetic lotions or kerosene masks - they all destroy mostly adults. Of course, this means that the number of newly emerged eggs will not grow anymore, but it is impossible to know for sure.

Therefore, combing your hair with a comb is necessary several times a day for at least a week. Depending on the development of the situation and the extent of the damage, repeated treatment with insecticides may be required.

Combing nits with very thick or curly hair is very difficult, but necessary. This is the key to a positive result in treatment. Scallop after each procedure must be disinfected. Usually it is made of metal, and it should be washed with hot water and soap, and then wiped with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or plain vodka.

Pediculosis is a disease with rapid development. You can not miss the time or do the processing "slipshod". The treatment should be carried out as long as necessary, until you see any nits in your hair. Do not comb out "half the power." Do this carefully, if necessary, by separating very thin strands, literally 1-2 cm wide. Success in the fight against these parasites is provided to you, if only the whole complex of measures is used, and not just one single remedy.

    If pediculosis was diagnosed

If infection with lice occurs, it is worthwhile to take immediate steps to limit the spread of lice from hair to other people, as well as getting rid of this parasitic disease.

The activity of the parasites themselves gives a lot of discomfort:

    • itching in the area of bites, as a result - scratching,
    • slight peeling of the scalp,
    • untidy look and unpleasant smell of hair due to the presence of nits on the scalp,
    • blue-gray spots on the affected skin,
    • in rare cases - an increase in cervical and occipital lymph nodes.

Nits are very small in size, so even combing out with special combs will have to be done several times.

However, these inconveniences are not the worst outcome for an infected person. The most terrible consequences can result in diseases that lice can carry on their victims. Diseases such as typhus and relapsing fever, Volyn fever, and other febrile illnesses caused by rickettsiosis (parasitic microorganisms) can become a real tragedy for humans.

Phased procedure for getting rid of lice and nits

In case of diagnosis of pediculosis, further steps should be taken immediately:

    • check all family members and staff for infection, since the method of transmitting lice is contact,
    • Get rid of lice with various means of chemical and natural origin. For such purposes, today there is a huge range of protivopedikuleznyh drugs in the form of sprays, emulsions, creams or shampoos. Such tools do an excellent job with living individuals, but they do not always help to remove nits from the hair. The manufacturers of some products claim to get rid of pediculosis in one procedure, but we still recommend holding a few so that there are no lice left alive. Otherwise there will be a risk of re-infection,

    Folk ways to combat pediculosis

For adherents of natural means of combating head lice, there are some popular methods of getting rid of lice and nits. Such tools are perfect for young children, whose skin is very delicate and susceptible to chemical attack:

    • cranberry juice. Cranberries contain a lot of citric and quinic acid, which can corrode the sticky substance, the very shell of the nits, as well as the larva. The essence of its use is to apply cranberry gruel on the head and hold for 20 minutes. After that you should thoroughly wash off the “mask” with running water. It is necessary to carry out the procedure for 5-7 days, combining with combing for complete effective disposal of parasites,
    • a compress from vinegar. Dilute 1 to 1 with water. However, it is worth remembering that prolonged holding on the head can lead to burns. Therefore, it is very cautious to use such a tool for small children,

Prevention is always better than cure.

To avoid infection with parasites, it is very important to adhere to the rules of personal hygiene, regularly take a shower, change bedding and underwear. Try not to use other people's hygiene products: combs, hats, clothing, towels or bedding.

    Folk ways to combat pediculosis

When you visit the sauna, bath or pool, always carefully shower, and also use only your own hygiene items. Periodically look through the head of your offspring, attending children's institutions. Trains, hospitals, summer camps are a risk group for children. Do not forget to eat right and live an active healthy lifestyle. Then no parasites will not be scary.
